Yahaye TAHIROU

Yahaye Tahirou is a senior monitoring and evaluation expert and researcher, with 30 years of professional experience and a track record of program design, analysis, monitoring and evaluation, gender analysis and research in emergency and development contexts, targeting agricultural and pastoral communities, refugees and IDP. He has led or contributed to evaluations and studies in more than 6 countries, for WFP, UNHCR, IOM, USAID and NGOs, across West, Central and Southern Africa, including the evaluation of the Niger Country Strategic Plan ( 2029-2024), UNHCR Impact evaluation of livelihood programs in Chad and IOM protection and inclusion program evaluation in Niger. He worked as National Representative, Senior Regional Adviser and International Consultant.

As a team leader and data collection supervisor for several of these evaluations, Tahirou designed and carried out mixed-methods field data collection, including remote offline data collection with Kobo toolbox, enumerator trainings, key informant interviews and focus group discussions in Niger, Chad, Mauritania, Mali and Burundi.

Owing to his deep familiarity with the operational frameworks, compliance mechanisms strategic agendas and programmatic approaches of IOM, WFP, UNHCR, USAID, EU funded NGOs for which he worked extensively in 8 African countries, he has always taken a gender and inclusion sensitive approach, ensuring that inclusion, conflict sensitivity and gender are mainstreamed into all the processes of evaluations.

Tahirou has also extensive experiences in capacity building for various stakeholders. He is currently training young refugees and members of the host community of Tillabery region, in Niger, in humanitarian and development approaches including cycle management, gender, inclusion, for Bioforce.
